Kakadu hats - or Mates as we often call them - come in all shapes and sizes so you're sure to find a Mate that suits you.

But first things first, lets determine your correct size. Remember you want comfortably firm

Kakadu hats - how to measure your head

Wrap a tape measure or a piece of string (if you use string, you'll need a ruler as well) around your head so that it is above your eyebrows and about 1cm / half and inch above your ears. No need to pull too tight - remember you want your hat to be comfy!
Follow the size guide below to help determine your size.
There are some slight variations in size depending on the fabric used for the hat - thicker materials mean the hat fit will be a bit tighter and thin fabrics a bit touch looser

BELT SIZE GUIDE

Step 1: Decide Where You Wear Your Belt

Think about whether your belt will sit on your hips or waist. This will affect the size you need, as these areas might differ in size.

Step 2: Measure an Existing Belt

If you have a belt that fits well, lay it on a flat surface. Measure from the point where the buckle meets the leather to the hole middle belt hole. This gives you your belt length.

Step 3: Measure Your Body

Wrap the measuring tape around your waist or hips where your belt would normally sit. Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight and that it’s parallel to the floor for accuracy.

A Handy Conversion Size Chart - remember belts are measured from the point where the buckle meets the leather to the hole middle belt hole.

A chinstrap on a hat is not everyone's cup of tea, but if the wind picks up or you just want to keep your hat handy when you're out and about then pick up one of our attachable leather chinstraps.

The great feature of the Kakadu adjustable chin strap for hats is that as well as going under your chin to stop frontal or side winds from blowing your hat off, our chinstrap also runs around the back of your head to stop the wind from the rear blowing your hat off also - a double win.

Fitted with a leather panel for comfort and an adjustable slide so you can hang your hat where you want, it fits onto all Kakadu leather, kangaroo and suede hats that have a built-in chinstrap facility.

Full Grain Leather

Highest quality bovine leather retaining the complete grain layer. It features the most strength and durability of all leather types, displaying natural textures and uncorrected imperfections that enhance its aesthetic

Care

Do not wash or dry clean – brush off dirt with a soft brush or wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Periodically apply leather conditioners to maintain flexibility and prevent drying out.
Avoid leaving leather goods in a hot car where the high temperatures may affect the quality and finish of the leather.
A good rule of thumb is - if it's too hot to touch, then it's too hot for your hat!

Does the job and looks good on my Karumba hat!

It's an over priced shoe

It's an over priced shoe lace with a leather tag - not much value in this item.

A bootlace with a couple of thin bits of leather, not as shown in the photo. Better off making your own. Shame, the hat is awesome.

I got the Brumby hat

I got the Brumby hat I had been obsessing about in NZ, from a shop in Robina. It was everything I expected it to be. What I particularly like about this hat is the shape of the crown. I do wish the brim was a little more conically tapered downward, but maybe gravity will take care of that over time.
Robina did not have the Kakadu chin strap, and it looked so good online that I refused to buy an alternate brand.
I ordered online the chin stap and the cow skull belt buckle.
When they arrived, the chin strap did not have the nice toggle that the one online showed.
The cow skull buckle metal was very thin in the middle of the skull and had a small hole in it.
The loveliness of the hat kind of offset the dissapointment with the chin strap and buckle.
I travelled around north queensland looking for belts to go with the buckle at western type shops.
I found one at titleys in charters towers and donahues in townsville. Really superb expensive belts that will go well with that buckle
