Kakadu hats - how to measure your head

Wrap a tape measure or a piece of string (if you use string, you'll need a ruler as well) around your head so that it is above your eyebrows and about 1cm / half and inch above your ears. No need to pull too tight - remember you want your hat to be comfy!

There are some slight variations in size depending on the fabric used for the hat - thicker materials mean the hat fit will be a bit tighter and thin fabrics a bit touch looser

BELT SIZE GUIDE

Step 1: Decide Where You Wear Your Belt

Think about whether your belt will sit on your hips or waist. This will affect the size you need, as these areas might differ in size.

Step 2: Measure an Existing Belt

If you have a belt that fits well, lay it on a flat surface. Measure from the point where the buckle meets the leather to the hole middle belt hole. This gives you your belt length.

Step 3: Measure Your Body

Wrap the measuring tape around your waist or hips where your belt would normally sit. Make sure the tape is snug but not too tight and that it’s parallel to the floor for accuracy.

I bought two of these hats as well as one Kalgoorlie Wide Brim Soaka Breeze Hat, all in size M. The Kalgoorlie fits me perfectly, unlike the Cairns Breeze Hats, which are at least one size too small. Unfortunately, I'm now left with two hats that are completely useless to me.
The sizing is clearly inconsistent between these models, despite both being labeled as size M. I expected the sizing to be consistent across products from the same brand, so this was very disappointing.

Why choose a canvas hat?

We love natural fabrics at Kakadu. Cotton hats are breathable, shade-strong, and tough with a sun protection UPF of 50+.

Are canvas hats crushable?

They sure are! Wear ‘em, squash ‘em, pack ‘em and no matter what, they’ll bounce back. Use a hair dryer to get the dents out of our drywaxed Tinnies.

Do canvas hats protect from the sun?

Our canvas is rated UPF50+ so you’ll be protected while you’re out and about but just remember if you choose a breeze style the mesh is not. For extra coverage you can’t beat the wide brims, they give solid shade for Aussie sun.

How do I clean a canvas hat?

Cold water rinse, reshape, air dry.

Are these hats UPF rated?

The Tinnie Bronco and other styles with the solid crowns are, breeze crowns are not. Be sure to check the product page for details.

Do canvas hats fit true to size?

Measure your head 1 cm above brows; size up if in between. Our ballcaps are one size fits all.
