Shoeing horses? Check. The sides are short enough that the brim isn't an issue, and flexible enough to not be A Problem. Driving a car? Check. The back slope is enough that you're not bouncing your brim off your headrest. Rain? Check, never down your neck. Sun? Check, will happily flip from "cool hat" to "my poor ears can't take another sunburn", and back again once your done mowing the lawn
I've had this hat for a year, he's been well used and poorly treated, but still shows up ready for use and abuse with zero issues
My advice is to buy two - one for wearing every day for a few years, and one for wearing every other day for a few years, while you figure out what could make it better
